5/9/2008 - End of the season announcements update:

Playoffs are May 13th & 14th. Format is same as a regular match, only the first team to 6 wins and the match ends at that point. 4th place at 1st place, 3rd at 2nd. Please call in your results so we know whom to expect at the...

Awards Banquet & Yearly Divisional Shootout Sunday May 18th at The Wonder Bar in Biddeford.
Signups for the shootout start at 1pm. The shootout itself will be after the season awards presentation. We've never done this event quite like this before, so we can't say exactly what time the shootout will start, but we're "shooting for" drawing names by 2pm.

Shootout details: Open to League Members in good standing from the Fall 2007 and Spring 2008 seasons. Registration in person only. There is no entry fee. The SRDL is contributing $400 per division to the pot. Format is draw doubles, double elimination. Best 2 out of 3, 501 (ss/df), cricket, choice.

DARTBOARDS! The league will be selling its tournament-used dartboards for $30 each at this event. Cash only from members; sponsor pubs may pay by check ahead of time.

Questions??? E-mail outgirl@dartsinmaine.com for fastest response, or call any board member and we'll do our best to get your question to the right person and get you an answer ASAP!

4/26/2008 - A big THANK YOU goes out to everyone who contributed money and raffle items, shot darts, bought raffle tickets, and travelled from as far away as New Hampshire to make last weekend's benefit shootout a success. We raised $765 for Olivia. And we're not done! A couple of raffle items came in after the fact, and we didn't get a chance to do a 50/50, so those things will be taken care of at our annual banquet shootout on Sunday May 18th. (Just another reason to attend that event!) On that topic, if you haven't already heard, we are going to do our end of the season awards at the banquet, instead of giving them out the night before at the finals. We are wrapping up a few last-minute details, but complete info will be published any day now!
4/10/2008 - Make plans now! The SRDL is hosting a benefit shootout at the Biddeford-Saco Elks, just off the turnpike spur in Saco, on Sunday April 20th at 1:30pm. Proceeds will go to Olivia Rose Sayer, a little girl currently receiving treatment for a brain tumor. Olivia is the daughter of 50's Pub Dream Team captain Jason "Jay" Sayer. Entry fee is $10, with half going to Olivia and half to the pot. We will have tons of raffle items, games, and a 50/50 to raise money as well.

If you are unable to attend, please feel free to contact a board member about making a donation, and if you can think of any place to post a flyer that we haven't already, please print out a couple and post away! We are receiving more raffle donations every day, and expect a decent turnout of people who are just there for the raffles, in addition to all the dart shooters. If you have friends who haven't shot in the league in a while, give them a call - let's make this the biggest event we can!

Here is a link to the poster: click here.

Pre-registration: call Tournament Director Shelly Miller at 251-8762 if you would like to pre-register for this event. If you are unsure whether you will be able to attend, here is some incentive to pre-register: all pre-registered shooters will be entered in a drawing for a dart board, regardless of whether they attend the event.

3/14/2008 - Reminder to anyone planning on attending the March Board Meeting: due to the 3rd Monday of the month falling on St. Patrick's Day and our host location being an Irish pub, this month's Board Meeting will be Monday March 24th instead, 7pm at the Kerrymen Pub in Saco.
3/8/2008 - Stats may be a little delayed online this week, as Steve is having problems with his internet connection and can't send them yet... {update 9pm - stats are now posted!}
2/24/2008 - Let's help out some friends from the Portland league. Last week, Carl and Jo-Ann Tupper lost their house to a fire. The Maine Dart Association is hosting a Benefit Shoot-Out for them at the South Portland VFW on Sunday March 2nd at 1pm. Entry fee $10; signups start at noon. Pass the word!  Kitchen will be open...
2/13/2008 - Wondering "weather" or not you'll be playing darts tonight? Please read the information at the bottom of this page completely before you make any phone calls...
2/9/2008 - For those of you who look here first - stats are posted!
2/3/2008 - Stats have been updated since first posted on Friday, a few minor changes... Hit Reload/Refresh if you don't see the latest version when you go look...

LEAGUE FORMAT SURVEY

After tallying the results of the recent League Format Survey, the Board has concluded that all divisions of the Saco River Dart League wish to play the 4-singles format previously only used by the A division. Here are the complete results, by division:

Question 1           4-singles format         6-singles format            undecided

A Division                 15   ( 88%)                       1                                1

B Division                 24    (71%)                      10                               0

C Division                 30    (77%)                       9                                0

                                 69                                   20                                1

Since there are already many more opportunities to play cricket in the 4-singles format, the second survey question was only to apply in the event that a division chose the 6-singles format. At any rate, here are the complete results, showing that all divisions were fairly evenly divided between wanting their singles to be '01/cricket/choice and all '01's.

Question 2             ‘01/C/Choice          2 out of 3 ’01               1 game 501      No reply

A Division                    9                              5                                2                     1

B Division                   18                              8                                8                     0

C Division                  13                             14                               8                      4

                                  40                             27                              18                     5

Ongoing Announcements

ONGOING:  In accordance with Article 7, Section 4 of the By Laws, all board meetings begin with a 15 minute open forum, where league members may present any concerns, ideas, or other matters.  After this time, the meeting may be closed at the discretion of the President.  Board meetings are typically held the third Monday of the month, 7pm, at the Bar of the Season.
ONGOING:  Now you can add yourself to the SRDL Mailing List!  The mailing list is not a substitute for reading the announcements that appear in your newsletter.  Rather, it is used to notify and remind you of deadlines, board vacancies, league functions, and other darting news of local interest.  Every message you receive will include instructions for removing yourself from the mailing list if you no longer wish to participate.  Do this carefully, as you will never (ever, really!) be able to subscribe using that same address again - we don't control this process, it comes that way...

ONGOING: If you connect to the internet without current antivirus software and a firewall, you are opening your computer up to all the evils of the universe!  Some helpful hints for those who need to be enlightened are on this page:  Safe Computing

Rescheduling due to inclement weather: There may be times when your team or your opponents may need to reschedule a match in the interests of safety.  All decisions should be made between the two captains, but you cannot refuse to reschedule if the other team does not have enough players available as outlined in this section from the Rules:

       ·         In the 6-singles format, if your team has at least 3 players you must play.

·         In the 4-singles format, if your team has at least 2 players, you must play.

In deference to common sense, if *both* teams wish to reschedule and can agree on a date/time, rescheduling is a perfectly acceptable alternative to having either team play short under these circumstances.

The procedure for rescheduling is outlined in the rule below:

Section 2a. Rescheduling due to inclement weather requires team Captains to contact one another and set up a date before the following week of regular season play.

·
The home team Captain must notify the Area Director of the new date.
·         The Area Director then notifies the Statistician.
·         All efforts should be made to play at the originally scheduled Sponsor.

The home team should also remember to notify your sponsor that you will not be there, as well as consult your sponsor in your plans to reschedule, in case they have other events planned for your proposed reschedule date.  If you cannot reach your Area Director in person, it would be courteous of you to call another AD or notify your Statistician directly not to expect a call-in that night.  As always, the Board will cheerfully handle any disputes arising from failure to agree on a reschedule date by assigning one at the Board's convenience... In other words, working together is your best option.
