12/6/2009 Newsletter Announcements: FINALS ARE SATURDAY - DEC 19, 2009 2:00pm - @ The 50's PUB REMINDER - For the Spring Season the following positions are open: Secretary, Area Director IV, Statistician, Treasurer and Tournament Director. Please consider stepping up and taking one of these very important positions to help your league run smoothly. |
ATTENTION CAPTAINS: There is still a Mandatory Captain's meeting Sunday December 6, 2009 - 1:00pm @ The 50s Pub in Biddeford - please make sure you or your team representative are present - this is no time to lose points!! PLEASE ALSO NOTE: The time for the FINALS has been CHANGED from what it says on your schedules - the correct time is 2:00pm December 19th @ 50's Pub in Biddeford. P.S. We are aware that the Vacancy Assassins points "came back" in this week's newsletter - the problem will be taken care of in time for the Week 14 newsletter… |
11/22/2009 - Two important announcements from this week's newsletter: ELECTION UPDATE: As only one person was nominated for the Area Director II position, no one was nominated for Secretary or Area Director IV, and the current Vice President was nominated and agreed to serve another term, there will be no elections this year. Therefore, for the Spring Season the following positions are open: Secretary, Area Director IV, Statistician (the people currently holding these positions are not returning) and Tournament Director. Please consider stepping up and taking one of these very important positions to help your league run smoothly. A Division - once again thank you for your valuable input. The board has decided all points through week 5 will stand. After that, all team stats and personal win/loss against Vacancy Assassins have been deleted - any specialty shots/ton points scored have been preserved. |
11/15/2009 - The missing reports from week 9 all showed up finally. We have no idea where they went in the meantime, but they were all correctly postmarked, so no points were lost for lateness. Next problem - we have a team that has dropped out of the league. The Board will be deciding Monday whether to take out all their points for the season, or just the second half, since we have already passed the halfway point. Next week's newsletter will contain those adjustments. Nominations for upcoming elections should be written on the back of your match report sheets. Make plans now for the Mandatory Captains Meeting, first Sunday of December, as noted on your schedule... |
11/02/2009 - There were THREE missing match reports this week, which have not showed up in the mail as of Monday... Only the home teams are marked on the newsletter, but whoever they played against, none of you has any personal stats entered yet. Total wins and losses can be determined from call-ins, but you will note the entire B division has no personal stats yet this week. Please mail sheets promptly out of respect for your fellow dart players. |
10/25/2009 - We had one team that was unable to play this week due to illness, and is making up the game this afternoon. Look for stats late tonight or tomorrow... UPDATED: stats are now posted. Please note new area directors on newsletter. |
10/24/2009 - Sadly announcing the passing of friend and dart player Lavern Stadig. Many of you will remember her from the old Soho Saturday shootouts, and countless big tournaments around New England. There is a picture on Lavern's obituary. |
10/18/2009 - Week 7 Stats are now posted. Please read the announcements on page 1 of your newsletter. Additional note, our hosting service discontinued the version of the message board aka forum software we were using, if you were wondering where it went... |
10/11/2009 - Week 6 Stats are now posted. |
10/10/2009 - We had a problem with the database last week that was much easier to fix through programming than to have your Statistician re-do several weeks of data - unfortunately your former web admin was out of town for a couple of days and did not have the time to fix it until today... Therefore, week 5 stats have just now been posted. Apologies for the delay. Please read your week 5 newsletters while you are waiting for week 6 - we have included valuable info on the fall elections for you... Week 6 stats will be available tomorrow. |
9/26/2009 - The SRDL is in need of an Area Director and a Tournament Director. If you are interested in one of these positions, please read through the By-Laws for a description of the position, and come to the next board meeting to be interviewed. (10/19/2009 - 7:00pm @ The 50's Pub in Biddeford) |
8/31/2009 - Documents for the fall season, including pub list, area directors, schedules, rules & regs, and bylaws are now posted. Good luck to everyone in your first week! |
8/11/2009 - As the rosters start rolling in, we should note the time and location of meetings, which was not finalized when your paper roster forms were mailed to you.
MANDATORY SEEDING MEETING –
AUGUST 26, 2009
MANDATORY CAPTAINS MEETING –
AUGUST 30, 2009 Kevin Petit has been approved to fill in as Statistician this season, to keep things running smoothly, since nobody has stepped forward to fill this important league position. The Web Admin position is still open. |
8/2/2009 - Working on getting the website ready for the fall season, so don't worry if things move around a bit or you click on things that don't work - by tomorrow, you will have the opportunity to register your team online. Update 12:37pm: Online Submission is ready. There are links on that page if you just want to download a roster and info sheet to print and send in the mail either... If you find anything not working the way it should, please drop a line to srdl@dartsinmaine.com with details of what went wrong... The League is still looking for a Web Admin and a Statistician. Until people come forward to fill these positions, various board members will be helping out in their spare time - we'll let you draw your own conclusions as to the promptness and efficiency of that method... |
6/26/2009 - The Saco River Dart League has an immediate need for a Statistician. This person must have basic computer skills, a reliable computer and internet service, be able to pick up the match reports from the post office, and plan to distribute newsletters to all the sponsor bars and service clubs, either by mail or in person. Familiarity with statistics is a bonus, but you can learn on the job - a little common sense and the computer will do most of the work for you. See the latest By-Laws for the official description of the position. The Board has decided to do away with the expense of having a league phone, so the person taking this position must also have a reliable phone to be used as the call-in number. |

| 3/27/2009 - Ah, the benefits of taking your time... if you looked at the stats that said posted 3/27 4:43pm, those were last week's. Hit refresh/reload when you're on the newsletter page and you should now see posted 3/27 6:39pm - that would be the week 9 stats. Many thanks to the person who brought it to my attention so quickly! | ||
| 3/20/2009 - New tonight! Both the Rules and Regs and the By-Laws have been updated to reflect some recent Board decisions... Changes in both are highlighted. | ||

3/20/2009 - For those of you who know Old Orchard musician Ben McKaye,
there is a musical benefit for him at Referees TONIGHT, 7-11pm. The
event will feature various bands and other local musicians. Admission is
by DONATION and is 21+. Ben was diagnosed with brain and lung cancer
last year and has been receiving treatments since that time. If you can

help...

| 3/14/2009 - Just resolved a technical issue with the website, but won't have time to post the stats till later this evening - apologies all around! | ||
| 3/6/2009 - After this season, the Saco River Dart League will be needing a new Website Administrator. Your current Web Admin is moving, and while this is a job that theoretically could be done from a distance if necessary, it would be better to have someone local, who could attend board meetings and league events. The website is currently done with Microsoft FrontPage, and the league stats are maintained in a Microsoft Access database. The ideal candidate for this position would have some Access programming knowledge as well as website building experience, as it is an ongoing, constantly evolving process. If you have questions or would like to discuss the job in more detail, please contact Linda at outgirl@dartsinmaine.com or 207-831-7119. Final selection of a replacement would of course be subject to board approval. | ||
| 2/16/2009 - Archives have been updated to include last season and the season before. | ||
| 2/8/2009 - Stats for both weeks 1 and 2 are now posted. Remember, this week is week 3, your last opportunity to add new players (call your area director!) or pay for players who have not yet played. Hope to see many of you at the Port City Open this weekend (go to www.mainedartassociation.org to pick up a flyer). Maine State Championships Friday night, only $5 to enter - it would be great to have an SRDL player as the Men's or Women's State Champ or BOTH! | ||
| 1/26/2009 - As we hear news of a big snowstorm approaching for our first night of the new season, you might want to be familiar with the rules and recommendations regarding inclement weather, outlined at the bottom of this page... {click here to go there now} | ||
| 1/23/2009 - Reminder - your MANDATORY CAPTAINS' MEETING will be held Sunday the 25th, 1pm at Jimmy The Greek's (next to 7-11 in OOB). | ||
| 1/18/2009 - This is a reminder - your MANDATORY SEEDING MEETING will be held this Wednesday the 21st, 7pm at the Kerrymen Pub in Saco. Thanks so much to everyone who turned out for the Benefit yesterday - we'll post more details in the coming days, but with 36 shooters, some from as far away as NH and MA, it was a great success! | ||
| 1/13/2009 - Don't forget, tomorrow is the deadline to submit your roster! If you would like to help set up for Saturday's shootout, or if you have any last minute raffle items to donate, please contact Tournament Director Shelly Pinkham at 206-2971. Note to Referees Wild Things - your roster was received, but the e-mail confirmation bounced back, so we couldn't let you know. | ||
| 1/2/2009 - After you're done looking over the flyer and sponsor sheet for the benefit shoot on January 17th, you can follow this link to see the Info for Spring Rosters. We are going to have the Seeding Meeting at the Kerrymen Pub while we're working on a new Bar of the Season, where the Captains' Meeting will be held. That location will be announced at the Seeding Meeting. | ||
| 1/2/2009 - Looking for the info sheet and rosters for next season? We are still working on confirming the "Bar of the Season" so we can tell you where those all-important Mandatory meetings will be held. Stay tuned - we'll get it out to you as soon as possible. Meantime, be sure you have a copy of the benefit flyer and sponsor sheet from the announcement below this one! | ||
12/30/2008 - Benefit
Shootout!!! As many of you learned at
the Captains' Meeting in December, we are planning a major shootout for
January 17th at the Biddeford Eagles. Half the proceeds will be donated
to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mike Lamb. The other half
will be given to SRDL shooter Crystal Webber and her family, to help in
her ongoing battle with that terrible disease. We all know someone who
has been affected by cancer - please help with the fundraising efforts
prior to the shootout, and come to the event with the contributions
you've gathered from the community.
Here are the printouts for the event: download flyer here sponsor sheet |

Ongoing Announcements |
| ONGOING: In accordance with Article 7, Section 4 of the By Laws, all board meetings begin with a 15 minute open forum, where league members may present any concerns, ideas, or other matters. After this time, the meeting may be closed at the discretion of the President. Board meetings are typically held the third Monday of the month, 7pm, at the Bar of the Season. | ||
| ONGOING: Now you can add yourself to the SRDL Mailing List! The mailing list is not a substitute for reading the announcements that appear in your newsletter. Rather, it is used to notify and remind you of deadlines, board vacancies, league functions, and other darting news of local interest. Every message you receive will include instructions for removing yourself from the mailing list if you no longer wish to participate. Do this carefully, as you will never (ever, really!) be able to subscribe using that same address again - we don't control this process, it comes that way... | ||
ONGOING: If you connect to the internet without current antivirus software and a firewall, you are opening your computer up to all the evils of the universe! Some helpful hints for those who need to be enlightened are on this page: Safe Computing |
Rescheduling due to inclement weather: There may be times when your team or your opponents may need to reschedule a match in the interests of safety. All decisions should be made between the two captains, but you cannot refuse to reschedule if the other team does not have enough players available as outlined in this section from the Rules:
·
In the 6-singles format, if your team has at least 3 players
you must play. In deference to common sense, if *both* teams wish to reschedule and can agree on a date/time, rescheduling is a perfectly acceptable alternative to having either team play short under these circumstances. The procedure for rescheduling is outlined in the rule below: Section 2a.
Rescheduling due to inclement weather requires team Captains to contact one
another and set up a date before the following week of regular season play. |
