| IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS Yes, all league announcements are important!!! |
| For End of Season Stats, see Newsletters page. |
| 12/14/2003 - Click here for results of the Finals! More pictures will be posted later this week {update 12/24 - have to clean up some old stuff and make more room first!}... |
| 12/11/2003 - Reminder: FINALS - 1pm Biddeford Amvets Saturday the 13th. Don't forget, there is a shootout after the Finals, after the awards ceremony, approximately 4pm. This is a $5 entry luck of the draw partners cross-divisional shootout, like we have had following the last three or four Finals. Even if your team is not playing Saturday, come support your friends who are, and then enjoy a fun evening of shooting darts. The League is contributing $200 to the payout. |
| 12/07/2003 - 10:00 am... MEETING IS ON. 11:30, 50's Pub. Everyone we've talked to so far says the driving is fine, and getting out of your driveway is the only real challenge. If your situation differs, and you feel it would put you in danger to try and make it, you MUST contact a board member before 11:30. That's the scoop gang, get shovelling! BTW, your old and lazy Pres. with the bad back only needed 20 minutes to extricate her car from the snowbank, and only that because they don't make the Neon in 4WD... Again, if you cannot make the meeting, and you do not bother to contact a board member before the fact, you will lose points. This is a captains' meeting, but really, any responsible team member may represent your team. |
| 12/07/2003 - 8:45 am...QUICK, I NEED FEEDBACK!!! Word on the weather so far is that the roads look fine, but people are having trouble getting out of their own driveways... please write to outgirl@dartsinmaine.com (the preferred mode of communication) or call 934-5918/831-7119 and let your Pres. know what the situation is in your little corner of the universe! Either way, a decision will be announced at precisely 10AM, giving you plenty of time to respond, to dig out, and have that one more cup of coffee... If for some reason we do not have the meeting, all captains should expect a followup survey, including information about next season, in the mail sometime this week. Please be sure that the league has your current mailing address, if this has changed since you submitted your roster in August. STAY TUNED! |

11/18/2003 - Decisions from last night's
board meeting: This year's election has been cancelled. There
is no need to incur the costs of preparing and collecting ballots when
there is only one candidate for each position. The candidates who
have accepted nomination are therefore the winners of their respective
positions by default. Congratulations, and thank you for
participating.
The Mandatory Captains' Meeting on December 7th will go on as planned, for the purpose of discussing these matters and appointing a Tournament Director and a second Area Director, positions on the ballot that nobody accepted. See the elections page for complete details on who your new board members are. |
| 11/13/2003 - This season marks the 10th Anniversary of the Saco River Dart League. Would you like a souvenir? Please take a moment to fill out this highly informal survey and give us some ideas on what you'd like! |
| 11/13/2003 - Reminder of monthly Board Meeting: Monday Nov 17th, 7pm at the 50's Pub. |
| 10/27/2003 - It's election time again! Can you see yourself as the next Vice President, Secretary, or Tournament Director? How about becoming an Area Director? Follow this link for info! |
| 10/27/2003 - Clarification of Weeks Played (Article 2, Section 7 of the Rules & Regs) for Division A: 1/3 of your season is 5 weeks, though you don't play every week due to the bye. The Weeks Played report on the newsletter page has been updated to reflect this Board discussion. |
| 10/20/2003 - BOARD MTG POSTPONED TILL NEXT MONDAY, OCT 27TH... |
| 10/18/2003 - Reminder, this month's Board Meeting is Monday Oct 20th, 7pm at the 50's Pub in Biddeford. Per the rules & regs, the first 15 minutes is open to the general membership to bring up any concerns you may have... |
| 10/01/2003 - A bit of clarification on the Statistician position, for those of you who are wondering... Kenny Goodwin was voted in as the new Statistician at the last board meeting, but a few days later, his computer was destroyed by water damage. Until he can get a new one, he will be picking up the match reports from the post office and checking them for errors, but Linda will continue to do the data entry, printing, etc... Regardless of who is officially Statistician, the call-in number will NOT change until next season. All the call-ins need to go to the same person. However, you may hand-deliver your match report to either Kenny or Linda if you see one of us after your match is over, because we are both doing the Statistician job at present. Clear as mud? Call or write with any questions... srdlstats@dartsinmaine.com or Linda: 831-7119 or 934-5918, Kenny: 205-0372 |

9/21/2003 - Newsletter announcements:
If you circle a high in/out or 180, it will be recorded as happening in a third game 301. B Division Captains, watch your week
numbers - remember you started with week 2. Additional note: What to do when your team plays short? If the player was written down before you knew you were playing short, cross out the name (neatly, one line through it) and write "absent" next to it, so we know not to enter any stats for that person. If you choose to write in a player named "Nobody" and do stats for him instead, your match report will add up to the usual totals, and there will be no need to cross anything out. |
| 9/16/2003 - Final Rosters as of Week 3 are now posted. If you can't print this file, but still want a printed copy, drop a line to srdl@dartsinmaine.com and we'll get you one as soon as possible. |
| 9/4/2003 - Attention B Division Teams - The team that was going to play out of the Crazy Eight Saloon in Old Orchard has changed to the Saco Eagles. Please adjust your schedules accordingly and notify your teammates. Saco Eagles Full O' Bull Captain & Co-Captain are Cindy Bombaro & Liz Goodwin if you have any questions about this move. |
| 8/27/2003 - If you need to add a player, you need to call your Area Director! Schedules are now posted. B Division should note, your season starts with week 2, on September 2nd & 3rd. Anything else you need to know, please contact any board member or drop a line to srdl@dartsinmaine.com and we'll help you out as soon as possible! |
| 8/21/2003 - Sunday's Mandatory Captains' Meeting will be at 11am at the 50's Pub in Biddeford. This info was posted earlier this week, but the website was offline Wednesday and seems to have been restored from an earlier backup, so we apologize for the information disappearing before everyone could read it! |
| 8/21/2003 - ATTENTION ALL DIVISIONS: Check the bulletin board if you are a player looking for a team or a team looking for players! |
|
GENERAL INFO: As you are probably aware, there are several vacancies on the Board. If you are interested in becoming the new President or Statistician, please refer to your previous season copies of the By-Laws for job descriptions, and contact any board member if you have questions. The first 15 minutes of the next Board meeting will be open to the general membership, so please show up there if you would like to be interviewed for one of these positions. This is your opportunity to represent your fellow shooters and help decide how the League is run. Congratulations to Vickey Brown on stepping forward to become our new League Secretary. |
| 8/15/2003 - Attention Board members: if you have collected any paper rosters, please go to the Online Roster and enter them if you haven't already. Just put "entered by {your name} for SRDL somewhere in the player #9 boxes, so we'll know why it appears to be late but really isn't, and if there is no "send confirmation to" e-mail address, just put the league address and I'll know where it came from... Thanks! |
| 8/4/2003 - If anyone is having problems using the online roster, please write to srdl@dartsinmaine.com and mention what version of what browser you were using. Please be sure you have java enabled, or it won't work right. |
|

Info from July Board Meeting There are currently three open board positions: President, Secretary, and Statistician. Unless we get a new Statistician by the end of August, you will NOT be receiving TIMELY newsletters and online stats. The Board has divided up the duties of Secretary and Statistician for the time being, because those jobs are crucial to keeping the League running, but this is a far from ideal situation. Please read through the By-Laws for descriptions of the open positions. |
|
Additional details on Statistician position:
You would pick up the match reports from the post office, always being
sure to check Friday's mail, but you can check Wednesday's and Thursday's
too, if you want to get a head start on the data entry. Data is
entered into a Microsoft Access database, and only general computer skills
are required, no programming. All you need for that part of the job
is a reasonably modern computer, a reliable printer, and internet
access. Accuracy and attention to detail are the most important
aspects of the Statistician job!
After the data is entered, the Statistician prints out the newsletter, and sends the database via e-mail to the Website Administrator. You can print one copy and then get copies made (a league expense) or print them all yourself - there are typically very few copies requested to be delivered by postal mail anymore - most people get their newsletters online. Depending on where you live, what time your post office closes on Saturday may vary, but the newsletters need to be mailed on Saturday, so you should plan accordingly. The majority of the league is used to finding their stats online Friday night, and it would be great if we could continue that level of service to our members. The Statistician is also responsible for tracking the call-ins that happen on match nights. If a match report doesn't show up on time, this is the only way the newsletter can be completed. Therefore, you need to provide a phone number and reliable answering machine or voicemail. All questions about the stats will come to you, and there is also a statistician e-mail address we can set you up to use, so you don't have to provide your personal e-mail address to the whole league. If you have any other questions about this position, please drop a line to srdlstats@dartsinmaine.com and we'll track down the answer for you. Again, it's very important that we fill this position as soon as possible! |
|
7/10/2003 - Now you can add yourself to the SRDL Mailing List!
The mailing list is not a substitute for reading the announcements that
appear in your newsletter. Rather, it is used to notify and remind
you of deadlines, board vacancies, league functions, and other darting
news of local interest. Sign up on the Contact page. Every message you receive will include instructions for removing yourself from the mailing list if you no longer wish to participate. Do this carefully, as you will never be able to subscribe using that same address again (we don't control this process, it comes that way...). |
