12/4/2005 - Notes from the MANDATORY CAPTAINS' MEETING: 1. The newsletter has been adjusted for point deductions on teams who missed the meeting. 2. Rosters for the Spring season will start being accepted December 11th, due January 11th at the latest. Detailed information will be posted later this week. 3. The Board allowed a unanimous vote of B division captains to overturn the recent decision to have only the top 3 B teams make the playoffs. Issues raised were that the 3rd, 4th, and 5th teams were all within a couple points of each other all season, and that the decision should have been made when the 6th team dropped out, not towards the end of the season. All B teams were present, and all voted to have the top 4 make the playoffs. 4. Linda will hand out calendars showing important SRDL dates, events, and deadlines for Spring 2006 at this week's matches, along with the updated copy of the newsletter. 5. If you are interested in becoming the next SRDL Statistician, please read through the materials here online, and then come to the next monthly Board Meeting, which will be Monday December 19th, 7pm at the Saco Eagles. We would like to interview all potential candidates for this Board-appointed position! |

| 12/3/2005 - Stats are posted! Don't forget about the Captains' Meeting tomorrow! See notes below... | |||
|
11/21/2005 - Lots of announcements - please read them ALL!
The fall election has been cancelled, due to having
exactly enough nominees for the positions. The MANDATORY CAPTAINS' MEETING will be held as planned. That will be Sunday December 4th, NOON at the Saco Eagles. Everyone is welcome, but one person from each team MUST be there, or your team will lose points. Since we won't need to count votes, the meeting will consist of the following: announcement of dates for next season, clarification of rules and bylaws, and an extended open forum to discuss league members' concerns. CHANGES TO PLAYOFF/FINALS INFO:
Basic qualifications for the Statistician position would
be computer literate, attention to detail, good with people,
local phone number with reliable answering device or voicemail,
ability to get to post office to pick up match reports in a
timely manner, enough free time to go over the match reports,
enter the data and print the newsletter, reliable e-mail account
to send data to Website Administrator, and ability to attend
monthly board meetings. |
|||
| 11/21/2005 - Stats will be posted after tonight's board meeting. Newsletters will be hand-delivered this week. Thanks for your patience! | |||

8/26/2005 - Two more reasons to attend Sunday's Captains'
Meeting: 1. We have the tons and specialty awards from last season now, and will hand them out at this meeting! 2. If you are a B player looking to get on a team, this one is for you. We have had several players drop out of one of our B teams, leaving us a half a team short of an even number of teams in the B division. Captain and Co-Captain Phil Nystrom (967-5177) and Mike McCurry (282-7967) would like to hear from YOU! We'd like to see these guys get on a team, but even more importantly, we'd like them to be able to have their own team so we don't have 3 byes in that division. Please come to the meeting if you are interested and unable to make contact prior. |

8/17/2005 - Congratulations and thanks to JoJo Clemens on becoming our new Tournament Director. Several teams did not make an appearance at the Seeding Meeting. Everyone please remember to send your captain or another team member to the Captains' Meeting on 8/28, noon at the Saco Eagles! Points lost for not attending these mandatory meetings will be posted along with the first newsletter of the season. Don't start out in the negatives! (Note, the rule that formerly said "designated team representative" has been changed to say "team member" to clarify that your team representative must be someone on your team. This person is responsible for passing along to you all information presented at the Captains' Meeting. |

8/10/2005 - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of friend and SRDL member Bea Stebbins. Visiting hours will be 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on Friday, at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford. A Funeral Service will follow at 12 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. |
|||
|
8/5/2005 - The SRDL is in need of a Tournament Director. This job requires a significant amount of time and energy around tournament time, but most of the year is no more difficult than attending monthly board meetings and representing the League in a positive way to the general public. Thanks go out to Justin Poulin for doing this job for the past year - he has resigned to pursue family and work obligations, but will still be playing darts on Wednesday nights. |

Ongoing Announcements |
|||
| ONGOING: In accordance with Article 7, Section 4 of the By Laws, all board meetings begin with a 15 minute open forum, where league members may present any concerns, ideas, or other matters. After this time, the meeting may be closed at the discretion of the President. Board meetings are typically held the third Monday of the month, 7pm, at the Saco Eagles. | |||
| ONGOING: Now you can add yourself to the SRDL Mailing List! The mailing list is not a substitute for reading the announcements that appear in your newsletter. Rather, it is used to notify and remind you of deadlines, board vacancies, league functions, and other darting news of local interest. Every message you receive will include instructions for removing yourself from the mailing list if you no longer wish to participate. Do this carefully, as you will never (ever, really!) be able to subscribe using that same address again - we don't control this process, it comes that way... | |||
|
ONGOING: If you connect to the internet without current antivirus software and a firewall, you are opening your computer up to all the evils of the universe! Some helpful hints for those who need to be enlightened are on this page: Safe Computing |

|
Rescheduling due to inclement weather: There may be times when your team or your opponents may need to reschedule a match in the interests of safety. All decisions should be made between the two captains, but you cannot refuse to reschedule if the other team does not have enough players who can make it. If your team wishes to reschedule, please follow the procedure outlined in the rule below. Also, the home team should remember to notify your sponsor that you will not be there, as well as consult your sponsor in your plans to reschedule. If you cannot reach your Area Director in person, it would also be courteous of you to call another AD or notify your Statistician directly not to expect a call-in that night. Here is the rule: Section 2a.
Rescheduling due to inclement weather requires team Captains to contact one
another and set up a date before the following week of regular season play. |
