12/7/2008 - We have now received a copy of that missing B division match report from week 14, and final stats for the season have been posted. Please look them over and if you spot anything that doesn't appear accurate for your team, give Steve a call, as we have to get the info for specialty awards in asap. If you looked at the "preliminary" Week 15 standings posted earlier this weekend, you may need to hit "refresh" or "reload" a couple of times for the new pages to display instead of the old ones.

FINALS will be held this coming Saturday, Dec 13th, 7:30pm at the 50's Pub in Biddeford. Everyone is welcome to attend!

Mandatory Captains' Meeting & Elections Sunday December 7th 1pm at the Kerrymen Pub in Saco. This is not just for the teams who made the playoffs, this is for the entire league.
11/10/2008 - As you have seen in your newsletters for several weeks now, the fall elections are nearly upon us. Positions on the ballot will be President and two Area Directors. Due to the recent passing of Mike Lamb, there is an Area Director position open immediately, to be filled by appointment until next year's election. Mike will be sadly missed.

To nominate someone for a Board position, write the position and their name and contact info (if you have it) on the back of your match report sheet. Captains do not have to sign this. Please get nominations in asap - we need to contact these people and see if they accept the nomination. Deadline for nominations is THIS WEEK, in order for us to get the ballots out in time to be returned in time for the... Mandatory Captains' Meeting & Elections Sunday December 7th - details tbd. All League members are encouraged to attend this meeting!

Nominees so far:

President: Kelly Petit, Bruce Fortney, Andy Albrecht, and Mike Wright (all have accepted nomination)

Area Director: Troy Picard (accepted) and Tracey Dore (unconfirmed)

10/30/2008 - It is with deep sadness that we must let you know of the recent death of lifetime league member and Area Director Mike Lamb. It will be hard not to imagine Mike sitting at every league event letting us know "all systems go" at the finals and "official railroad time" at board meetings.

There is a great writeup on Mike in today's Press Herald: http://pressherald.mainetoday.com/story.php?id=218967

Much more to come from the League as well*, but for the moment we want to share a couple of pictures and the details on arrangements:

LAMB, MICHAEL R. - 60, of Biddeford, in Biddeford, Oct. 28, 2008. Visitation, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Sunday, Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford. Mass of Christian Burial, 11 a.m., Monday, St. Andre's Church of the Good Shepherd Parish. Burial, St. Joseph's Cemetery.

* if anyone has photos etc. to contribute to a tribute page, please contact your Website Administrator...

10/27/2008 - Standings are now updated - sorry for the delay...
9/27/2008 - Make plans now! As announced already in the newsletter, the SRDL is holding a benefit dart shoot on Saturday October 18th, 1pm at Referees in Old Orchard Beach. Entry fee is $10, and the format is draw doubles, 501-cricket-choice. We are looking for raffle items for the event if you have anything interesting to donate... Proceeds will go to longtime SRDL shooter and former team captain Mike Mondor, to help with expenses in his fight against cancer. If you've ever been to Referees, you probably know Mike...

Here are some ways every league member can help out, whether or not you can attend the event:
1. print a couple of posters and hang them at your place of work, favourite coffee shop, etc. if they allow that sort of thing
2. plop a stack of the little posters on the table at your next dart match and make sure everyone sees them
3. donate a raffle item
4. ask your employer to donate $$ or a raffle item, gift certificate, etc.
5. call friends you used to shoot with that haven't played in a while (hey, this is good for everybody!)
6. blog or bulletin about the event on your myspace/facebook/wherever else you hang out online
7. if you already know you can't attend due to work or whatever, contact a board member to donate the entry fee you would have paid if you could be there - those little donations add up quickly!
8. carry a few posters in your car wherever you go, in case you run into people who need one or places to post them
9. think of other things to add to this list...

8/25/2008 - Schedules are now posted... They are on the League Documents page. Everyone have a great first week!
8/21/2008 - Reminder - Mandatory Captains' Meeting, Sunday 1pm @ The Vacancy!
7/23/2008 - NOW ACCEPTING ROSTERS FOR THE FALL SEASON!!!  Please note, ALL information on the roster form is REQUIRED unless otherwise noted. Rosters with missing information may be returned for completion at the League’s discretion. Seriously. We need the captain and co-captain phone numbers (and alternate contact where applicable) for the Captains' List that goes in your packet. We need COMPLETE AND ACCURATE mailing addresses for the captain and co-captain so when info for the next season becomes available, we can be sure you will get a copy. We request phone numbers for all players for the best chance of getting info to your team in an emergency situation. If you are missing any of this info prior to filling out your roster, please give your teammates a call. Addresses and non Captains' List phone numbers are kept private for Board business only, and Captains' List phone numbers are not published on the website.

7/21/2008 - It's time to get your roster together for the upcoming season! By Wednesday, you will find info sheets and rosters on the website, and they will also be going out in the mail to recent captains and co-captains. Please contact srdl@dartsinmaine as soon as possible with any changes of address. Roster forms will be distributed to the bars and service clubs shortly as well.

Ongoing Announcements

ONGOING:  In accordance with Article 7, Section 4 of the By Laws, all board meetings begin with a 15 minute open forum, where league members may present any concerns, ideas, or other matters.  After this time, the meeting may be closed at the discretion of the President.  Board meetings are typically held the third Monday of the month, 7pm, at the Bar of the Season.
ONGOING:  Now you can add yourself to the SRDL Mailing List!  The mailing list is not a substitute for reading the announcements that appear in your newsletter.  Rather, it is used to notify and remind you of deadlines, board vacancies, league functions, and other darting news of local interest.  Every message you receive will include instructions for removing yourself from the mailing list if you no longer wish to participate.  Do this carefully, as you will never (ever, really!) be able to subscribe using that same address again - we don't control this process, it comes that way...

ONGOING: If you connect to the internet without current antivirus software and a firewall, you are opening your computer up to all the evils of the universe!  Some helpful hints for those who need to be enlightened are on this page:  Safe Computing

Rescheduling due to inclement weather: There may be times when your team or your opponents may need to reschedule a match in the interests of safety.  All decisions should be made between the two captains, but you cannot refuse to reschedule if the other team does not have enough players available as outlined in this section from the Rules:

       ·         In the 6-singles format, if your team has at least 3 players you must play.

·         In the 4-singles format, if your team has at least 2 players, you must play.

In deference to common sense, if *both* teams wish to reschedule and can agree on a date/time, rescheduling is a perfectly acceptable alternative to having either team play short under these circumstances.

The procedure for rescheduling is outlined in the rule below:

Section 2a. Rescheduling due to inclement weather requires team Captains to contact one another and set up a date before the following week of regular season play.

·
The home team Captain must notify the Area Director of the new date.
·         The Area Director then notifies the Statistician.
·         All efforts should be made to play at the originally scheduled Sponsor.

The home team should also remember to notify your sponsor that you will not be there, as well as consult your sponsor in your plans to reschedule, in case they have other events planned for your proposed reschedule date.  If you cannot reach your Area Director in person, it would be courteous of you to call another AD or notify your Statistician directly not to expect a call-in that night.  As always, the Board will cheerfully handle any disputes arising from failure to agree on a reschedule date by assigning one at the Board's convenience... In other words, working together is your best option.
